ボックスモデル
- 幅は、親要素の幅からマージン、ボーダー、パディングがはみ出さない範囲でいっぱいに広がる。
- 高さは、コンテンツが収まる高さになる。
- widthプロパティの単位に%を使った場合、そのブロックボックスのコンテンツ領域の幅は、親要素の幅のN%に設定される。
- マージンは、隣接する別のボックスや親要素のボックスとの距離を設定するもの。
- 上下に隣接するマージンは、相殺されてどちらか大きい方だけが適用される（＝たたみ込み）。左右の隣接するマージンはたたみ込まれない。
- 上下マージンは、親要素のボーダーの外に出る（親要素の上下マージンと子要素の上下マージンのたたみ込み）。
※要素がフロート、ポジション、フレックスボックスで配置されている場合、またはoverflowプロパティが適用されている場合はたたみ込みが発生しない。 - ボックスに背景色、または背景画像を指定した時は、パディングの領域まで塗りがつぶされる。
- インラインボックスには上下マージンを設定することができない。左右マージンおよび四辺のパディング、ボーダーは設定可能。（<b>タグ内など）
ブロックボックスを横に並べる
- 横に並ばせたい全てのボックスを囲むラッパー要素（wrapper）を作成
- ラッパー要素にはフロートを解除するcssを設定（「overflow: hidden」を適用）
- 横に並ばせたいボックスの幅を指定
- 横に並ばせたいボックスのcssにフロートを設定
